March 20 2025, somewhere around noon, I received a congratulatory message. Me? I went on Facebook, where they had just announced the nominations for the Gopo Awards, the national awards in Romanian cinema.
Olga Török for the role of Clara in CLARA.
I admit, I was surprised to tears. Clara is my first leading role in a feature film. Everything I had learned and studied in film, I put into this role. The character has the necessary depth and complexity to be fully explored, so it was only natural that I didn’t want to miss a single nuance.

The struggle in Clara’s soul—between her two children, between her two homes—forces her to reexamine, for a few days, the decisions she has made in recent years and the way she raised her son, whom she left in her father’s care in Dubova, Romania.
My favorite sequence is the argument between Clara and her father.
The most difficult scene was the one where she finds the boat—because of the very low temperature.
My favorite locations were in Dubova and Ulm.
We rehearsed every scene for a month before shooting. The movie was nominated in five other categories.
It has a worldwide distributor.
It will be shown on TVR, ZDF, and ARTE.
The film has already won two awards: the Audience Award at the Cottbus Film Festival and the Bridging the Borders Award at SEE Fest Hollywood.
It was made on a medium-low budget.
It took ten years from the first idea to the premiere.
It also has a short film, The Birthday Boy, in which I also play Clara.
Thanks to the nomination jury CLARA directed by Sabin Dorohoi has 6 nominations at the Gopo Awards:
*Olga Török for Best Actress in a Leading Role
*Best Screenplay (Ruxandra Ghițescu)
*Best Original Music (Eduard Dabrowski)
*Best Original Music (Eduard Dabrowski)
*Best Set Design (Anca Miron, Sonia Constantinescu)
*Best Costume Design (Lumi Mihai, Sybille Gänßlein-Zeit).
*The film is also nominated for Best Debut.
Keep your fingers crossed for Clara please.
29.04.2025 is the Gopo Award Gala in Bucharest. It will be also live streamed.
Keep you posted.
The Gopo Awards Gala is organized by the Association for the Promotion of Romanian Film with the support of the National Cinematography Center and Babel Communications.
